About Us

The Sun City Soldiers was founded in 2023 by two Navy veterans, Damon Maddox Sr. and Miguel Lopez, who share a dream of bringing high-caliber basketball to their beloved community in Menifee, California. As they prepare to join the West Division of the American Basketball Association (ABA), the Sun City Soldiers aspire to build a reputation for their dedication to spirited gameplay, community involvement, and commitment to excellence both on and off the court. 

Damon and Miguel met while serving in the Navy, where they forged a strong friendship and discovered their mutual passion for basketball.  After their service, they envisioned creating a platform that not only showcased athletic excellence but also provided opportunities for local talent to shine.

At Sun City Soldiers, we believe that we are more than just a basketball team; we are a family.  It's a community that brings people together and fosters a sense of belonging.  We will host a variety of events aimed at bringing people together, from free basketball clinics and community days to charity drives and educational workshops.  Our games will be a gathering place for fans of all ages, offering a fun and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.  Through these efforts, we aim to strengthen community bonds and create a supportive, vibrant atmosphere where everyone can thrive.
